ST. LOUIS — Several Medicine Shoppe and Medicap Pharmacy stores are offering pharmacist-administered flu vaccines, the retail pharmacy franchiser announced Monday.

More than 225 stores across the country operate a Specialized Care Center Immunizations, with staff on site who have training and certification to administer immunizations. SCC-Immunizations stores will be offering year-round adult immunization services, including vaccines for shingles and pneumonia and travel vaccines.

“In many states, this is the first flu season that pharmacists are permitted to administer immunizations, including the flu vaccine,” Medicine Shoppe International vice president for clinical operations Keith Cook said.
